Two pharmacy professors at the University of East Anglia have won the prestigious 2007 GlaxoSmithKline International Achievement Award.

Prof Duncan Craig is head of pharmacy at UEA and Prof Mike Reading is chair in pharmaceutical characterisation science.

Prof Craig will give their award-winning lecture From hot knives to hypnosis: new approaches to pharmaceutical thermal analysis and receive the award and a cheque for ?000 at the British Pharmaceutical Conference in Manchester next week.?

The pair were selected by a review panel of senior staff from GlaxoSmithKline for their advancement in the application of scientific knowledge within the pharmaceutical sciences.?

Prof Reading and Prof Craig have worked together for approximately 15 years, pursuing their interests in developing novel and innovative thermal techniques and introducing novel characterisation methods. They have been published extensively on these subjects.

Prof Craig said: 揜eceiving this award is a great honour and we are grateful to the sponsors for selecting us and giving us this fantastic opportunity. We are attempting to bring a novel set of thermal methods in to the pharmaceutical arena and this award is a welcome recognition of the value of these techniques.?
