伦敦南岸大学创建于1892年，座落在英国伦敦市中心优美的泰晤士河畔。现有教职员工2,000人，在校生22,000人， 其中海外留学生3,000人, 来自120个国家。 学校位于伦敦市中心，离大笨钟仅一英里路程，步行五分钟即可到达滑铁卢火车站，十五分钟到牛津街。

南岸大学从2007年起设特别中国留学生奖学金。
学校设有四个学院：商务、计算机和信息管理学院、理工和建筑环境学院、艺术和人文学院、卫生和社会服务学院。提供本科学士学位、研究生硕士学位以及研究式博士学位。一般的学制为：预科一年，学士学位三年，硕士学位15 个月。

伦敦南岸大学与中国高校的合作已有十余年的历史，不仅与国内的一些著名重点大学和普通大学建立了合作关系，培养了一千多名中国留学生，而且不断开拓创新，推动中英两国在教育和文化领域的深层次合作。今年国家汉语国际推广领导小组办公室（国家汉办）批准在南岸大学设立中英合作孔子中医学院，这是迄今为止世界上第一所也是唯一一所孔子中医学院，这项合作充分说明了南岸大学在高等教育上的雄厚实力和声望。

London South Bank University was founded in 1892 as the Borough Polytechnic and amalgamated with four other colleges in 1970 to become South Bank Polytechnic. In June 1992 it was granted University status by the Privy Council. With nearly 18,000 students, the university is one of the largest in London. It is a progressive, dynamic institution combining traditions of excellence in vocational and applied subjects with specialist industrial and professional links.London South Bank aims to provide courses, which equip students for future employment. Many courses allow students the opportunity to have a management or marketing bias and provide computer and information technology training.
